NORTH GRENVILLE - The Municipality of North Grenville presented to Council the draft 2024 budget, a strategic and financial plan designed to support community development, enhance services and promote sustainability.
The draft budget includes $27.8 million in operational costs and $7.9 million in capital costs. These investments demonstrate a continued commitment in investing in core services such as underground infrastructure, roads and bridges, fire protection, recreation, heritage and arts and culture that make North Grenville a better place to live.
“As we navigate the complexities of the current economic climate, the draft 2024 budget reflects our unwavering commitment to the people of North Grenville. This proposed draft budget captures our shared vision for a municipality that thrives on recreation access, sustainable economic growth and equitable community development,” said Mayor Nancy Peckford.
The draft budget is proposing an overall tax increase of 3.5 per cent, in response to the ongoing challenges posed by rising inflation. The increase is aimed at maintaining affordability for residents while ensuring that North Grenville can continue providing services that residents and businesses rely on and expect.
This budget also includes key community investments in our local hospital, physician recruitment, affordable housing, local hospice, youth centre, seniors centre, food bank, victim services and signature community events such as Kemptville LIVE and Buskerfest.
The Municipality will be hosting two public budget engagement sessions, taking place on Wednesday, January 17th from 4:00 - 5:30pm at North Grenville Municipality and virtually on Thursday, February 1st from 6:30pm - 8:30pm. Members of the public will have the opportunity to interact with municipal staff to review key aspects of the draft 2024 budget, ask questions and provide feedback.
“The community budget engagement process is an opportunity for residents and stakeholders to provide their perspectives and priorities. Your participation is valuable, and we look forward to hearing from you in the coming months,” added Deputy Mayor John Barclay.
