Slow down. Share the road.

As part of a targeted education campaign, the Municipality has designed Traffic Lawn Signs available to interested residents to promote road safety and increase driver awareness.

Where requested and as supplies last, a household will be provided a MNG Traffic Calming Lawn sign under the following terms and conditions in accordance with all applicable by-laws. Once in possession, the resident is solely responsible for the sign.

One sign shall be provided; per household, on a first come first serve basis, except for a corner lot, which will be permitted a maximum of two (one per side)

A maximum of one sign per 50.0 metres is permitted to avoid information overload.

Signs shall be placed:

  • at minimum, 3.0 metres from a fire hydrant
  • at minimum, 100.0 metres from a Temporary Condition sign and/or a construction zone
  • at minimum, 30.0 metres from an intersection in a rural area and 15.0 metres in an urban area
  • only on private property
  • at minimum, 1.0 metre from a sidewalk, curb and/or roadway
  • placed securely in the ground using the wire mount provided
  • on the right side of the roadway, angled clearly within the driver’s line of sight

Signs shall not be placed:

  • on a horizontal or a vertical curve
  • in any way that obstructs sightlines for all road users (i.e., driveways, sidewalks, accessibility ramps etc.)
  • in a drainage ditch, obstructing a culvert or any other stormwater infrastructure.
  • on a building, tree, pole, post etc.

Other Notes:

  • Signs shall not be modified in any way including the application of reflective tape.
  • Municipal staff reserve the right to remove or relocate the sign for any reason.
  • Signs shall be maintained as supplied, in good repair and promptly removed by resident if damaged, unsightly and/or unsecured and disposed of appropriately (blue bin for wire mount, green bin for sign).
