
Slow down. Share the road.
As part of a targeted education campaign, the Municipality has designed Traffic Lawn Signs available to interested residents to promote road safety and increase driver awareness.
Where requested and as supplies last, a household will be provided a MNG Traffic Calming Lawn sign under the following terms and conditions in accordance with all applicable by-laws. Once in possession, the resident is solely responsible for the sign.
One sign shall be provided; per household, on a first come first serve basis, except for a corner lot, which will be permitted a maximum of two (one per side)
A maximum of one sign per 50.0 metres is permitted to avoid information overload.
Signs shall be placed:
- at minimum, 3.0 metres from a fire hydrant
- at minimum, 100.0 metres from a Temporary Condition sign and/or a construction zone
- at minimum, 30.0 metres from an intersection in a rural area and 15.0 metres in an urban area
- only on private property
- at minimum, 1.0 metre from a sidewalk, curb and/or roadway
- placed securely in the ground using the wire mount provided
- on the right side of the roadway, angled clearly within the driver’s line of sight
Signs shall not be placed:
- on a horizontal or a vertical curve
- in any way that obstructs sightlines for all road users (i.e., driveways, sidewalks, accessibility ramps etc.)
- in a drainage ditch, obstructing a culvert or any other stormwater infrastructure.
- on a building, tree, pole, post etc.
Other Notes:
- Signs shall not be modified in any way including the application of reflective tape.
- Municipal staff reserve the right to remove or relocate the sign for any reason.
- Signs shall be maintained as supplied, in good repair and promptly removed by resident if damaged, unsightly and/or unsecured and disposed of appropriately (blue bin for wire mount, green bin for sign).
