The Veterans' Commemorative Park is situated along the King's Highway 416 / Veterans Memorial Highway at the Exit 40 juncture with the Rideau River Road (County Road #19).
Veterans' Commemorative Park Background Information
Veterans' Commemorative Park is a legacy project that was created during the 1999 International Year of Older Persons celebrations with the intent of honouring Ontario veterans for their military service. It came about through the collective efforts of the Ontario Seniors' Secretariat, the Ontario Ministry of Transportation and the Royal Canadian Legion Ontario Command District G.
This site of remembrance and reflection features monuments, seating and gardens and is used for the annual District G Remembrance Day ceremonies and other Legion activities.
King's Highway 416 - Veterans' Memorial Highway
The King's Highway 416 commonly referred to as Highway 416 and the Veterans Memorial Highway is a multi-lane north/south Provincial Highway that links Highway 417 (Trans Canada Highway) in Ottawa with the Highway 401 interchange at Johnstown.
